NICOLA CASSISA (NAPLES, 1680 - 1730) Still life of lilies, chrysanthemums, hydrangeas, and tulips in a carved urn with cherubs in relief, beside a waterfall with ducks, snakes and lizards Signed lower left Oil on canvas, 130 x 175cm Nicola Cassisa was active in Campania and Naples as a painter of still life scenes, flowers and birds. He was a pupil of Andrea Belvedere. Some of Cassisa’s paintings were in the 1714 inventory of Duke Nicola Coppola di Canzano. Among Cassisa’s students are Leonardo Coccorante and Giorgio Garri.
