Star Lot: A fabulous original Bernadette Madden (Irish, b.1948) batik fabric print wall hanging artwork titled "Adoration and Judgement of Solomon, Ardmore, Co. Waterford," featuring a narrative panel taken from the relief sculpture of a lunette at the titular cathedral. Rendered in cool tones of blue greens. Signed to batick bottom right with further information to label on verso. Madden has a strong auction history with works fetching into the mid hundreds.

Born in Dublin, Bernadette Madden was a student at the National College of Art and Design and was awarded the William J Macauley Fellowship in Painting by the Arts Council in 1976. She is well known for her work with Batik and also makes screenprints on paper. She has exhibited extensively across Ireland, including at the RHA, and further afield in Norway and the USA, and has made fabrics for use in film and theatre productions. Her work can be seen in the Riverside Church, Co Dublin and the collections of the OPW and the Ulster Museum, among others.
