mported into the UK in 2007, this original Ford Dearborn plant car was manufactured in early January 1965 but has all the distinctive body & interior parts / features of a 1964 1/2 car, and was delivered to the main Ford dealership in Charlotte, North Carolina. It remained in the southern states of the USA for all its working life, thus avoiding any road salt contamination as used in the north and north-east.
The car, although relatively rust free on import with all floor panels etc in very good condition, went through a comprehensive restoration and full body respray in its original Wimbledon White, by a professional restoration company and photos are available of the original process.
The front brakes were converted to servo assisted discs, new Koni shock absorbers, rear springs, and Magnaflow exhaust system with ceramic headers fitted. The carpets, headlining, door cards, dash, fixtures and fittings, fenders etc, are all original but the seats were recovered in the correct period material. The Ford radio is original too, but has been converted to FM/AM with an external audio input. The car sits on 'Torque Thrust' alloys.
The car is a 'Wolf in Sheeps' clothing, in as much as the old 3 speed. 289 Cu in was replaced by a brand new Boss 302 Cu in, built by the Ford Racing Division in Illinois and is coupled to an original 4 speed.'Toploader' gearbox via a McLeod Racing 'Street Pro' performance clutch.
The engine specification comprises: Boss 4 bolt main block, forged steel crank, forged pistons, double roller timing chain set, Ford Racing hi-performance hydraulic roller camshaft M 6250-8303, aluminium SVO GT40 heads, 4 barrel Holley carburettor with manual choke and an aluminium high-flow 'Racing' radiator. Compression ratio is 9.0:1 and develops 345 BHP. Aluminium rocker covers + stainless steel or chrome plated parts used throughout the engine bay complete the package.
The car is extremely quick with 'street rod' performance; has only been used in dry conditions and garaged within a Cocoon.
The car is part of a private collection of US & GB sports cars that is being down-sized by the owner.
