A RARE HENRY VII/HENRY VIII, TUDOR OAK AND POLYCHROME CARVED BOARDED CHEST, CIRCA 14901520. A rare Henrician boarded Oak plank chest having a one-piece lid with reeded moulding to front and rear edges, retaining original pin hinges, the front carved with stylised quatrefoils around a fanned arcade above twin lancets, with a lattice reserve beneath the lockplate and a recessed chamfer below the lattice work denoting where original spandrels would have finished. The sides with V cut ends, having traces of original red polychrome decoration throughout the chest, extending to the rear board, 109cm wide 58cm high 41cm deep Note - For a similar example see Bishop and Miller The Beedham Collection 23rd March, 2023, Lot 10.
