Queen's College (University College) Cork opened in 1849 having been incorporated together with the colleges of Belfast and Galway in December 1845. In 1850, the Queen's University in Ireland received its Charter, granting the Senate power to confer degrees in the faculties of arts, law and physics (source: UCC website)
