A Victorian 8-day Gothic mahogany triple fusee bracket clock by Bennett (Sir, John) 65 & 64 Cheapside, London, with a carved architectural case with spire finials and castellated parapet, the one-piece silvered Roman dial with strike silent indicator to the arch top, the movement chiming and striking on a coil gong and eight bells with pull repeat, the case on an inverted breakfront base, together with an associated mahogany wall bracket. 41 cm wide x 26 cm deep x 66 cm overall height of the clock alone. Sir John Bennett started his career in Cheapside, London between 1839 when the shop at number 65 was still occupied by Rigge & Co, perfumers and cutlers, and 1847 when the Tallis Supplements came out.
