NELSON & BRONTE - SIGNED SURGEON's APPOINTMENT GIVEN ON BOARD H.M.S. VICTORY IN 1805; 17 Jan. 1805 document (minor toning and slight faults but complete; old narrow paper binding strip along one edge) signed by Nelson as "Nelson & Bronte" and given "on Board H.M.S. Victory at the Madalina Islands" (off Sardinia) ordering a ship's Surgeon, "William Carey" to transfer from "H.M. Bomb Vessel Etna" to "H.M.S. Belleisle", reciting Nelson's full titles at the start: "By the Right Honble Lord Viscount Nelson K.B., Duke of Bronte in Sicily, Knight of the Great Cross of St. Ferdinand and of Merit, Knight of the Order of the Crescent and of the Illustrious Order of St. Joachim, Vice-Admiral of the White and Commander in Chief of H.M. Ships and Vessels Employed and to be Employed on the Mediterranean Station." Fine document written on this famous ship just 10 months before the Battle of Trafalgar.
