Two Japanese fans, the first with wood monture, the guards inset with shibayama insects, three different examples to each guard, the recto painted with various figures, perhaps from a play, one carrying a lantern, one with musical instrument, the verso showing an exotic bird on a branch, surrounded by climbing plants and other flowers, guard approx. 27cm, together with a more modern example, with wood sticks painted black, the double leaf with bold waves of colour featuring red, silver and gold, guard approx. 29cm, contained in a fitted cardboard fan box
The first fan is in good used order. The second appears unused although the box is soiled with sticky tape.
