Two large Japanese fans, the first with a central portrait of a geisha, with hair accessories and colourful robe, the verso being plain, mounted on darkly stained wood sticks, guard approx. 38cm; and an earlier fan, the monture a mix of bone for the gorge sticks and black lacquered guards, the double-sided leaf featuring a robed lady on the verso, being carried across the sky on a cloud, across from a spray of pink roses, these being painted on a contrasting brown background, the verso painted with riverside flowers to the left and a cartouche to the right showing a river scene with fisherman, guard approx. 30cm
The first fan is in unused, stiff condition, the second has been used.
