5th (Airdrie) VB Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) Victorian helmet plate badge circa 1887-92. Good scarce die-stamped white metal Guelphic crowned thistle sprays bearing Sphinx, China Dragon and unit scrolls; mullet over strung bugle to voided centre. Three toned loops, VGC On 1st April 1897 the Battalion was disbanded as a result of the severe criticism by the Officer commanding 26th Regimental District on its discipline. Helmet replaced by the shako in 1892.
