A 14 bore rifled percussion sporting carbine, by Harding, converted from flintlock, 36½” overall, octagonal twist barrel 21½” with deep 8 groove rifling standing “V” rearsight, and single platinum line, engraved in very small script in front of the rearsight “Fine Twist Steel”; signed flat lock of flintlock form, engraved with scrolls and fern tip borders; walnut fullstock with take down fore-end, the butt with deeply chequered wrist and cheek piece; the steel mounts include trigger guard engraved with game bird in reeds, pineapple finial, and large scrolled hand grip; with replacement brass ramrod.
