A late 19th Century French majolica charger, painted in the maiolica manner with a fanciful six tongued lizard, crown and mystical beasts, 37.5cm diam, marked Ulysse in Blois and G Bruneau Balon Ulysse Besnard, known as Ulysse, was a painter of faïencier in Blois from 1862 to 1886. He copied the majolica and the metallic pieces of the Italian Renaissance as well as the fine earthenware of Saint Porchaire.
