Frank Dobson, Driffield, a Victorian oak and mahogany eight day long case clock, c. 1823 -1835, the 13" painted domed dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, mother and child to the arched top, floral spandrels, the movement with Walker & Hughes of Birmingham false plate, striking on a bell, swan neck pediment hood, the case inset with a shell, key, pendulum, two weights.
Frank Dobson had premises in Market Place, Driffield between 1823 -1861, Craven Lyons, of Bridlington, worked for him as a journeyman prior to 1823. He also ran the Post Office, was a brass founder, sold jewellery and fishing tackle, a man of many talents.
The dial making partnership of Walker & Hughes of Birmingham lasted from 1812-1835.
