Two late 19th century framed lithographs of HMS 'Alert': HMS 'Alert' and 'HMS Alert in a heavy gale off the coast of Mozambique Channel, June 1st , 1882; both in geometric carved Oxford frames, 13.5 x 20.5 and 13 x 19cm respectively (2) *Notes- Built as a Royal Navy 17-gun wooden screw sloop of the Cruizer -class, she was converted for arctic exploration and accompanied the Discovery on the British Arctic Expedition 1874-1876.
