'THE APCAR PLATE' an impressive late 19th Century silver plated salver, boldly cast in relief with face masks and putti, the later centre engraved 'Alexander A. Apcar Jr. Xmas 1922', 62cm diameter x 8cm high

Note: Apcar Alexander Apcar Snr (1851-1913) was prolific in the horse racing world, a great rival of Lord William Beresford and was president of the Calcutta Turf Club. A typed label to the underside of this salver indicates that The Apcar Plate was a horse race run on 26th December 1922.
