ENGLISH BELLARMINE. 8.5ins tall. A very impressive classic c.1650 period jug featuring delightful variating tiger glaze - quite superb, great shine, as good as it gets. Front well modelled bearded (scowling?) face, crisply struck, well detailed cartouche below. Old lip flake, shoulder kiln touch and couple of very small base flakes (in manufacture possibly) - overall a wonderful example of its type. Typical ex David Walker Barker Collection quality (small hand written label by him).
