A monocular microscope dated 1938, the 'Service' model by W.Watson & Sons Ltd, London and numbered 65441. The black lacquered body has a horseshoe base and has a rotating frame with three objectives and a substage condenser. The stage has fine vernier adjustment for both horizontal and vertical movement and focussing uses a similar system. It is contained in a fitted mahogany box 37cm tall which contains two extra objectives and one alternate eyepiece.
The microscope seems complete and functioning. The lacquer work is in good condition as are the brass fittings.
