An early 20th century embroidered silk portrait of HMS Russell the Duncan-class pre-dreadnought battleship of the Royal Navy. Commissioned in 1903 HMS Russel served in the Antlantic, Channel and Mediterranean Fleets as well as in support during the Dandanelles campaign. In April 2016 she struck two German mines near Gibraltar and sunk with the loss of 125 lives. 54x74cm including gold thread fringe, in acryllic glazed contemporary oak frame
