A Japanese silver wire cloisonné enamel vase, by Ota Hiroaki, c.1950s, decorated in archaistic style with jade green coloured enamel flowerheads and scrolls on a black ground, silver rims marked jungin (Pure silver), signed to a seal in silver Ota Hiro-Aki, 24.5cm high.
Ota Hiroaki (1913-1991) was one of the leading cloisonné artists of the Showa Period. The jungin mark was replaced in the 1950s. cf. Walter’s Art Museum, Baltimore, Stephen W. Fisher collection for an identical vase.
The enamel is in good condition, the silver wires are a little tarnished, some minor scratching and marks to the base consistent with age and use, in good condition with no restoration, chips or cracks detected.
