RARE 19THC WEDGWOOD BASALT BUST - VENUS. A 19thc large basalt bust of Venus, raised on a socle base. Impressed marks to the back of the bust, 'Wedgwood, Venus', and also impressed 'Wedgwood' to the socle base. 33.5cms high
*This was modelled after Canova, a similar bust was exhibited at the Great Exhibition in 1851. ** Generally good, couple of tiny nicks to the base rim and some wear to the base over time.
