On Education: a 19th century needlework sampler, Eleanor Grady, 1820, the verse comparing an uneducated soul with a dull, unpolished section of marble, waiting for its beauty to be revealed, the text surrounded by competent bands featuring crowns, various initials, the alphabet worked in a variety of forms and numbers, generally from one to twenty-five, framed and glazed, approx. 32 cm by 36cm within the frame; together with Miller’s book “Samplers, how to compare and value”, published in 2002 (2)
The sampler has several areas of wear, mainly towards the middle, the book is in good order.
