Bruna X (Italian 1937-2007, fl 1965-1976): Plutone, oil on canvas, signed and dated bottom right, 60 by 89cm. [Bruna X was a leading artist of the 1960's and 1970's in the Futurist, Abstract and Mesoamerican Art movements, despite a number of successful public exhibitions, she preferred to give her works away and to very few specific people. Owing to her personal beauty and accomplished art Bruna X became one of the darlings of the Modern Art scene in America and Europe in the 1960's and early 1970's, following some notoriety and a major exhibition of the 'Eva' series of portraits at Lo Scorpione Galleria D'Arte Moderna, opened by the Mayor of Milan, Carlo Tognoli Bruna X removed herself from public view to focus on her religious calling, from this moment on until her death, she never exhibited again or sold another work, meaning that the a huge collection of her work remained unseen for over forty years, this painting is a part of that private collection]
