Medieval retainers badge/brooch. Circa, 12th-13th century AD. Copper-alloy, 6.6 grams. 32 mm x 33 mm. A rare gilded bronze badge in the form of a lion standing right with its tail raised up over its back. The reverse complete with original hinged pin. Very few references are available for this piece, but a brooch found in Banham parish is very similar. Ref: Ashley 2006, fig.1 no. 8.
