A FIRST WORLD WAR CASUALTY PAIR TO THE KING'S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY. A Great War Pair comprising War Medal and Victory Medal named to 52703 Pte J. Mitchell K.O.Y.L.I. James Mitchell was the son of Friend and Elizabeth Mitchell of 39 Oak Terrace, Staincliffe, Batley, Yorks, he served with the 2nd/4th Battalion of the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, he suffered a slight gunshot wound to the jaw on the 27th August 1918, he died of wounds on the 28th September 1918 and is buried at Thilloy Road Cemetery, Beaulencourt, his headstone reads 'God's Gain - Our Loss', he was 20 years old. *CR Normal light surface marks.
