Military Cross group mounted as worn - MC engraved (S. H. Joelson Lieut. 17 R.Fus. Feb: 1917. Miraumont), 1915 Star (2.Lieut S H Joelson R.Fus) and BWM & Victory Medal (2/Lieut S H Joelson RAF). Sedgebert Herschel Joelson is listed as Wounded, Gun Shot Wounds 15/4/1917. MC L/G 12/3/1917 ‘for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Although wounded he led a raiding party with great gallantry, and successfully entered the enemy’s trenches, he carried out most valuable reconnaissance work previous to the raid’. Born Cardiff, his RAF Officers papers note MID but this not traced so possibly a Cat B award ? Served 56 Sqdn as a Pilot, served WW2 and died in service of natural causes 23/3/1941 as a Ft/Lt.
