WWI - Naval - Australian Navy carton containing a very extensive (100+) correspondence from a naval rating on board HMAS Australia - the flagship of the Australian Navy during WWI. The letters are to his sweetheart in London and are largely domestic in nature - however further research may reveal considerably more detail. 'Australia' was involved in operations against the German Navy in South East Asia, and personnel from the ship - a Battle Cruiser - were involved in the Zebrugge Raid. There was also a mutiny of ship's company towards the end of WWI. Many of the letters feature the somewhat unusual ship censor marks. Together with a group of medals, and an original photograph presumably of the author of the letters. WW1 Collection HMAS Navy related named medals: to include 2 brothers Frampton 25375 PTE Frampton North N P and K.6011 H D Frampton Stoker - plus a single medal K.30504 Stoker (one of the brothers was injured in action)
