W. Edwards, Bishops Castle an oak longcase clock the thirty-hour plated movement striking the hours on a bell with the twelve-inch square painted dial having Arabic numerals, decorative birds to the centre, 'false' winding holes, a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, anchor style spandrels painted to the four corners and signed W. Edwards, Bishops Castle, with decorative gilt-brass hands, the oak case having fluted pillars to the hood with cast-brass capitals, a swan-neck pediment, three cast-brass urn finials and standing on bracket feet, height 212cms. Note: William Edwards is recorded as working in Bishopsgate, Shropshire. He was baptised in December 1776 being the son of the clockmaker Edward Edwards, recorded as working in Bishopscastle from before 1771, and Susannah.
