The painting with the horse facing left has a torn canvas at the top of the horses back. This area has old restoration, which is particularly visible when you look at the back of the canvas. The back of the canvas also has been painted with a medium. The other painting also has a repaired tear which has been over painted, and particularly visible from the back of the canvas. The back of the canvas has also been painted with the same medium as the other. The varnish on the frames has all bubbled up somewhat.
