ROBERT BOYLE OF CLARE MARKET, LONDON (abt. 1734 - bef. 1797): A George III striking bracket clock, the arched dial with Roman numerated chapter ring, five minute markers, pierced metal hands, arabesque spandrels, calendar aperture and strike/silent dial. The twin fusee movement with verge escapement and rack/snail striking on a bell, backplate engraved with strapwork and leaves. The mahogany case with carry handle to bell top, gilt brass pine cone finials, brass grille sides, raised on ogee brass feet, 45cm high, 27.5cm wide, 18.5cm deep. With winding and door keys. Robert was a Watchmaker resident at Clements Inn in 1784. His son William would continue in that profession residing too at Clements Inn in 1813.
