A FIRST WORLD WAR BAVARIAN OFFICERS SABRE AND SCABBARD. With a 78cm pointed, fullered blade, etched to both sides with Bavarian State Motto 'In Treue Fest' against foliage, the blade marked for Robert Hermes, Solingen, The 'D' shaped brass guard protecting a wire bound shagreen grip. In a black painted scabbard with twin ring suspension. 94cm overall. The black finish to the scabbard appears to have been painted over a nickle-plated service, possibly for active service *Condition: Areas of loss and marking to painted surface on scabbard, otherwise in very nice condition.
