Rudolf Hofmann (German, 1820 -1882) - Roman Carnival - Oil on canvas - 61 x 48cm - Signed lower right - The painting is possibly a version of the same scene by Wilhelm Theodor Wider (German, 1818-1884), dated 1852 (Cheffins, 8th June 2011, lot 658). Wider kept a studio in Rome between 1850 and 1873, while Hofmann lived in the Eternal City from 1854 until 1857.
