Michael William Hutchings (1918 – 2020) was a lifelong painter who lived to the age of 101. He received tuition from Chelsea College of Art, the Slade School of Fine Art, and the Open College of the Arts. His development over the decades was largely self taught, the main focus of his work being the interaction of colour. The motto used in the majority of Michael's work was:
"Let the colour do the drawing"
