Wooden campaign box with silver plaque inscribed 'presented to Capt. H.H. Esplin Comdr of Willowmore by the officers non coms and men of the black guard April 1901'. Capt Harold Hague Esplin served in the South African War being mentioned in dispatches 29th July 1902, 3rd Welsh Regt. Queens and Kings South Africa medals awarded. In October 1917 he was tried and convicted for making false statements, unlawfully wearing military uniform, unlawfully representing himself to wear such uniform, 6 Months, 6 Months, 6 Months concurrent 1 month without hard labour. Sent to Wormwood Scrubs. Box also contains a misc. selection of items, medals (some copies), regimental silks etc.
