A rare Third Reich stopwatch, the dial marked ‘U[ntersee]-Jagd’ (Undersea-Hunting) believed to have been used during anti-submarine warfare to time depth charges. The outer ring of the dial is marked to time one hundred seconds, with the inner rings labeled ‘sm Annaherung’ (Approach), which together can give the speed of a target submarine based on observations made by a submarine hunter on the surface. The rear of the blued steel case bears an electropencil national eagle and swastika over the initials ‘KM’, indicating adoption by the Kriegsmarine. The movement stamped with the star-shaped maker's mark for Junghans, serial number ‘96231’, 70mm diameter
