A LATE 19TH / EARLY 20TH CENTURY INDIAN SILVER BOWL, the exterior cast in relief with figures between foliate scrolled arches, the base inscribed 'Thomas George Earl of Northbrook G.C.S.I. 1876 Robin Windham Baring Apr 30th 1935', height 9cm x diameter 10cm approx., 284.9 grams, Thomas George Baring, 1st Earl of Northbrook, GCSI, PC, FRS (22 January 1826 – 15 November 1904), Gladstone appointed him Viceroy of India 1872–1876, his great-grandfather and Robin's great-great grandfather was Sir Francis Baring, 1st Baronet Baring of Larkbeer (1740-1810) who was founder of Barings Bank, this bowl and the following lot were possibly 21st birthday gifts as Robin Windham Baring was born in 1914 (Condition report: approximately four pin sized holes in the body, which are visible in the interior when held up to light, the rim is slightly misshapen)
