A FINE WILLIAM IV SILVER-GILT SPIRIT KETTLE, STAND AND LAMP

by Paul Storr, London 1832, the kettle of inverted pear-shape and chased with foliage and flowers on a matted ground, each side with a cartouche with an engraved crest, the hinged cover with slightly later flower and foliage finial by Edward & John Barnard, with overhead swing-handle, the conforming stand on four rocaille-cast feet and with central lamp. 36cm high overall, 133 troy ounces gross



The marks on the underside of the kettle are clear. Further stamped '197'. Further partially marked inside cover and on the handle. The finial is partially marked for Edward and John Barnard on one leaf. The stand further marked with maker's mark on one foot, lion passant, duty mark and date letter on another and stamped '197' under another foot. The lamp is partially marked underneath and on the wick holder. Some overall surface scratching and wear are consistent with age and use.
