1837 King William IV copper Half Farthing struck for use in British Ceylon, modern Sri Lanka (S 3849). Obverse: right facing bare head portrait by William Wyon, 'GULIELMUS IIII DEI GRATIA' around with the date (1837) below. Reverse: Britannia with shield and trident, national flowers below, 'BRITANNIAR: REX FID: DEF:' around. Half Farthings were struck intermittently between 1828 and 1856 though this is the only issue from the reign of William IV. Mintage: 1,935,300. Composition: copper. Weight: 2.38g. Diameter: 19mm.
