Belgium: Ostend postal history collection in two red sleeved SG ‘Senator’ albums, for the period 1694-1990’s, with many items relating to port and cross Channel activity. Early pre-stamp letters and postally cancelled stamps, covers and post cards, including government/official and telegraph. Postmarks including Paquebot, Courier, Ambulant/TPO, Express, ‘return to sender’, ‘insufficient address’, ‘steamer’ and many other varieties. Postage due, railway, commemorative sets and Ostend exhibition fair, cinderellas and labels seen. Much of interest on closer scrutiny.

From the collection of Tom Pring, a highly respected member of the Belgian Study Circle and the author of two works on Belgian issues, ‘Fine Barbe Varieties’ (2009) and ‘1893 Armoires du Royaume’ (2015). Pring was half-way through a work on the Ostend-Dover Route, which he was sadly unable to complete.
