There are light stretcher marks and crackelure throughout, most visible in the dark areas of the picture. Small patch of paint loss in the centre of the picture in the dark area of foliage against the ruin, this has been overpainted. Another small spot of paint loss at the right hand side foundation of the ruin, again this has been touched up. There is also a small repair to the upper right part of the ruin, visible with a patch on the back. The whole has a yellowing appearance and would benefit fro professional cleaning and sympathetic restoration. The frame appears contemporary or near contemporary with losses and amateur infill.
