An 18 bore double barrelled over and under flintlock sporting gun, by Tatham & Egg, c 1810, 48” overall, round twist barrels 32”, with two platinum lines at the breeches and platinum touch holes, the upper barrel with maker’s poincon (illegible); flat stepped locks with French style cocks, rainproof pans, and roller on frizzen springs, the plates signed “Tatham & Egg” in flowing script; dark walnut butt with chequered wrist and cheek piece; steel mounts including large scrolled trigger guard; with brass mounted wooden ramrod. GWO & generally GC (barrels refinished and rebrowned, the metalwork worn overall). £1500-2200
