Ann Collier, Good King Wenceslas: A unique handmade lace fan leaf created by Ann Collier, 20th century, the leaf featuring the King stepping out on the Feast of Stephen, December 26th, together with his page, carrying alms for a poor peasant he had noted the previous day gathering wood for a fire, this story based upon Saint Wenceslaus l, duke of Bohemia (907 – 935), the bobbin background applied with needle lace for the figures, the sun, the trees and details in the sky, the robes and crown worn by the King picked out in gold thread, the AC initials applied top left, the wood monture pierced and painted black, guard approx. 29cm
