A very fine carved white marble Portman Fireplace, in the Neo-Classical style after Robert Adams, the inverted breakfront mantle shelf above an ornate frieze with central tablet, carved with a two handled urn issuing floral sprays bell flower swags and rosettes, the two outer panels carved with smaller urns, leaves and sprays, the tapering jamb panels carved with anthemions, leaf swags and bell flowers, each crested with an urn under a dentil moulded band, 61 1/2" h x 76" w (156cms x 193cms).
