AN 1805 NAVAL WARRANT OFFICERS' SPADROON.
With a 70cm straight, tapering and pointed blade with engraved decoration, the stirrup hilt with black fish skin grip, plain oval pommel and backstrap with central groove, the langets with fouled anchors, in a leather scabbard with three mounts with twin ring suspension, the top mount engraved 'Read Sword Cutler Portsmo'. 84cm overall length.
This sword is reduced in length as they were issued to Midshipmen with the length appropriate to their height.
