A pair of Coalport twin handled footed serving bowls and covers, mid 19th century, the blanks from moulds produced by Sevres, each polychromed enamelled with flowers and insects within a relief moulded blue and gilt foliate border, the covers with foliate handles, each with registration lozenge for 1850, each 27.5cm wide (one at fault), with two meat plates from the same service, each 47cm wide (one with rivet repair), and a smaller meat plate, 42.5cm wide (5)
Previously on loan to the Coalport Museum (ref IGMT L0366)
Provenance: Wykey House
One serving bowl shows two parallel hairline cracks to the outer rim, and the other shows a chip to the inner rim. One of the large meat plates shows a rivet repair. All pieces show fine show the odd firing pit or frit, surface scratching and minor rubbing to the gilt highlights.
