2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles WW1 Casualty Memorial Cross. Awarded to 116334 PTE J WELCH. Stamped Sterling and makers mark of 3 within a C possibly indicating Caron of Montreal. Private Joseph Welch was a native of Macclesfield in Cheshire and is noted as Died on the 17th July 1917. Another list shows him Died of Wounds on the 30th July 1917, serving with the British Columbia Regiment.
