HELEN ROEDER (1909-1999) A framed and glazed gouache, ‘The Kingdom of the Lady Murasaki’, signed in pencil ‘Helen R. Image size 22cm x 29cm. Lady Murasaki was a Japanese novelist, poet and lady-in-waiting at the Imperial court in the Heian period. She is best known as the author of The Tale of Genji. Helen Roeder was the wife of Carel Weight RA. She studied with Carel Weight and was an accomplished artist and author in her own right. 22cm x 29cm (C)
