12 Bore Double Barrel Side by Side 19th Century Hammer Shotgun by "J Morrell of London" serial number 1868. Black Powder Proofed. 76cm long browned Damascus barrels. Purdy thumbhole lever opening and back action lock. Engraved action and trigger guard. Double triggers. Blank silver escutcheon plate to underside of Walnut stock. Working action. Dolphin hammers. Overall length 119cm. Contained within a box with makers label for "H Esau Akrill, Practical Gunmakers, Beverley". One strap missing from box. Note: Buyer must hold a valid Shotgun Certificate or be a Registered Firearms dealer.

The barrels are reasonably clean with only minor pitting to the bores. Black powder proof at 12-bore. Left barrel - .738, 18/1000, true cylinder. Right barrel- .739, 18/1000, true cylinder. Some pitting, bulging and dents to barrels. Stock in good condition with steel butt plate. Barrels ring true when hung. Action reasonably tight.
