Charles Edward Conder (1868 – 1909): a fan painted, on fine silk, in the style of the Impressionist artist Charles Conder, who painted fantasy scenes and often featured companions, a feature of this particular leaf, with two elegant ladies, perhaps exploring warmer climes (inland Australia), at the beginning of the 20th century, the reserves with stylized pink roses, and objects relating to music and the decorative arts, filled with swags in quite a theatrical fashion in shades of turquoise, highlighted with gold dots, unsigned, undated, the verso is plain dark cream silk, bone or perhaps ivorine monture, pierced and piqué, contained in a card fan box covered in green and cream woven silk, lined in pale pink silk, guard approx. 24cm
In good condition excepting for some fold splits forming in the central cartouche. Box in very good condition. The lot includes some research undertaken by members of the Fan Circle International.
