A rare Jamaican specimen wood workbox, by James Pithin, Kingston, Jamaica, circa 1840, the lid inlaid with forty-two different specimens of island woods, named on a contemporary crib sheet or plan and including yacca, juniper cedar, wild fig, wild cabbage, hiddlewood, black ebony and others, with an internal lift out tray, height 13.5cm, width 32cm, depth 24cm.
