With just 37,665 recorded miles and fully documented history from new, The subject of magazine articles and well-known in Club circles (a regular NEC Show car).

The car came off the production line at Canley, Coventry on the 5th July 1979 and was destined for a small Leyland dealership in Scotland. Presented in Brooklands Green with Green and Black Cord interior, this Home Market car came with inertia seat belts, Sundym glass, heater and 5-speed gearbox. The story goes that dealership proprietor was so pleased with the Triumph, he decided to retain it as an early retirement present to himself and as such, the car remained unregistered as a showroom centrepiece for the next 14 years. In October 1993, the car passed to his daughter, Jane Pardoe, living in Reigate and became road-registered for the very first time – hence the 'L' prefix – with Mrs. Pardoe appearing in the Passport to Service as first keeper. Annually serviced, the Triumph was used sparingly covering just 13,768 miles before being sold for £2,500 in December 2003 to a doctor moving back to the UK from overseas to retire. With a new home in Ilkley, Yorkshire, the car was treated to extensive detailing by the doctor as well as a full re-spray in July 2004 (£2,256) and the fitment of 4 new road alloys, a TR8 steering wheel and full service. Sadly, the doctor died soon afterwards and the car was put up for sale by his brother and executor in early 2005. With an asking price of £4,000, a TR Owners Club member and genuine enthusiast from Shrewsbury bought the car in the March and subsequently treated the Triumph to a full mechanical overhaul with marque specialists S&S Preparations. Bills from December 2005 and early 2006 confirm the supply and fitting of a Stage 1 unleaded head, full stainless-steel exhaust system, electronic ignition, adjustable suspension and all the ancillaries. New carpets came a year later with the car now sporting a new identity by way of age-related plate, CAN 50V. A nod back to its production at Canley. The Triumph remained in Shrewsbury for the next 3 years before moving to Nuneaton in October 2010 in the hands of a new keeper. With just 26,536 miles now showing, the car had become a well-known exhibit in the Club and Show scene, being featured in the July 2013 edition of 'Classic Cars' with recently rebuilt seat bases and new door cards. Evidently used and enjoyed, the Triumph recorded some 6,000 miles in this ownership before, it would appear, being sold back to the previous keeper

The car comes with a substantial history file documenting key moments with literally hundreds of receipts, every MOT Certificate and road tax disc from 1996 to 2016, a Heritage Certificate, original Passport to Service, TR7 Handbook and a copy of the July 2013 edition of Classic Cars
